Hello,

When I try to import an existing video on my hard drive into Movie Maker I
get the following message:

C:\Video Tests\Cap0072.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many
methods to fire events from

Has anyone seen this message before? I am trying to edit out some sound
from a movie and the Image Mixer software that came with my Sony HandyCam
only allows me to remove the entire sound from a movie clip, and I only want
to remove 10 seconds or so.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I am a novice at this and really just
want to find the easiest way to remove this sound (cost within reason).

Thanks,
John M.

Hi John Inzer,

I have the problem that you refer to in the v8tee link:
Video file will not import into video track only into Audio track.

I don't get an error message, but the video won't go to video, only audio.

How do I convert the file? Also, the file type says it's AVI. It is coming
from a Pure Digital hand held video camera.

I appreciate your help. Like John M, I am a complete novice.

hi. im 16 and i want to learn how to make AMV's (Anime Music Videos) but i
need to import avi codecs to my movie player but nothing seems to work. iv
tried downloading torrents but that doesn't seem to work.. and every time i
try to import a video to the movie maker i get this:

avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not
installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install
the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the
file again.

iv tried again and again and still i get that.. so what should i do?

Convert the files to those that work in Movie Maker... see my website's
Import Movie Source Files > Video > Video Codecs page.
