Hi and thanks for reading/responding,
In regard to Import Specifications created during the import wizard in
Access 2000...
1. I often import large text files from other systems where each record has
a variable number of fields, up to a maximum possible. I later do extensive
VBA and SQL processing to normalise the data (much simpler when it's in an
Access table). During the import wizard it seems I must have a record in my
sample file that actually has this maximum number of fields before the
wizard will let me create a suitable import specification. Even if I
manually create the extra fields, Access just removes them prior to saving.
Is there a way around this without creating a dummy record?
2. I just want the Import Specifcation to use later within VBA code, I never
use the wizard to actually import data. Currently I just create the Import
Specification and then cancel the wizard, seems a bit dumb! Can you work
with these import specs without using the Wizard? If so how?
