Need to import scanned images in .psd format into PowerPoint. Computer won't
accept them. Is there a way to convert them?

Hi

Psd is a PhotoShop format. You will need to convert to an image format (such
a jpeg or png) using PhotoShop, PS Elements, or if you don't have either of
those I believe Irfanview can handle them (and it's free!):

If you have Photoshop installed on the computer, then you can insert:object,
then click 'Create from File' and browse to the file that you want to insert.
This will allow you to insert files in other formats, and keep them as their
native format (double clicking on the item in PPT will open it in Photoshop
and allow you to edit the file)

This may be PC only, can't say if it is compatible with Mac. I believe the
graphic will show up if you open the presentation on the Mac, just may not be
openable/editable (I have used this with PDFs mostly, I'm pretty sure they
show up on the Mac)

Note that this may increase the file size of the presentation considerably,
if the file you are inserting is large.

Thanks, Lucy!

That was 100% helpful!

You can place PSD files (or PDF, or pretty much any file type) into
PowerPoint on a PC. Go to 'Insert:Object" and click "Select from file".
Choose your PSD file, and it will be placed into your slide.

Depending on the size of the PSD file, it will increase the file size of
your PPT file considerably more than a jpeg. Plus, you won't get any
transparency from the PSD file. But, you can open the image into Photoshop
directly from ppt (double click in edit mode, or set an action to open it in
presentation mode) and the edits will appear in the presentation.

From what I have tested, the image should be viewable on a mac, although not
editable. And I beleive that the ability to insert is not available on the
Mac.
