Hello
my friends windows movie maker instantly disappears when trying to import
pictures can anyone please help?
He is running xp home pentium 4 avg A.V. we have tried reinstalling movie
maker via system root :
1. Click Start , click Run , and then type the following command:
%systemroot%\inf

2. Click OK to open the INF folder.
3. Locate the file moviemk.inf
Right-click the file, and then click Install . This will reinstall the files
that Search needs to proceed normally.
but still no luck.

any help /advice greatly appreciated

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

(927177) How to uninstall Internet Explorer 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177/en-us

I've also seen a report that disabling the
ffdshow codec could be the fix. To accomplish
this...open Movie Maker and go to...Tools /
Options / Compatibility tab...Uncheck...
ffdshow / OK.

===
(You can disable ffdshow with this command:
regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax"
After running that command, the regular
DivX/XviD codecs will be used instead of ffdshow.
You can enable ffdshow again with this command:
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax" )

He has IE6 and running MM2.1 xp with service pack 2 thought i would
uninstall /Re-install sp2 but cannot detect it, the xp disk has sp2 on it
