Import Outlook Mail

Installed Outlook in Vista. Attempts to import old email from .pst file
results in request for password. Old mail password doesn't work. Help?

DO NOT IMPORT! Take the .PST file, save it to your HD (DO NOT OVERWRITE any
existing .PST files) , open Outlook, and connect it to this .PST file.

Reconnect your old Outlook data file

Importing a .PST file almost always corrupts the Outlook profile in use,
plus you lose the following information:

1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Tried to just connect to the .pst file rather than import and it still is
asking for a password. Can't seem to dodge it.
 
Does Outlook on your old machine request a password for this .PST file?

Thanks for replying.
I have never done anything with this file, except move it to another disk
for backup. The only password that is associated with mail [that I know of]
is the logon password and it doesn't work. ???
 
I take it, then, that you have no trouble using this file with Outlook on
your old PC. Are you using a copy of the current, working file, or the one
you moved to another disk for backup?
