I need to copy my website( not published yet)in a cd, I
heard for the pictures to show I have to import them. I
don't know how to do that, do I select the images folder
separatly and go File|import or what? If I'm copying the
site to the cd, actually I'm exporting to the cd, in this
case, am I going to export the graphics from my PC to the
cd, along with the site? thank you for responding

1. FP: File Menu | Open Web

2. FP: File Menu | Import and import all images or other content to be used
in the web

3. FP: Insert your photos on to your pages or link to any other content that
has been imported or created within the current open web

4. To create CD, FP: File Menu | Publish Web and enter path to another
folder on your HD.

5. Open this folder in Windows Explorer and delete ALL _vti folders.

6. Copy or burn the remaining folders and files to your CD.

Thank you Thomas for responding that fast to my post
about importing images.I will try that but I have a
question, during the process, you mentioned about
deleting All_vti folders. What's that? and why delete
them? Thanks again

Michael,

Only delete the _vti folder once you have published it to another folder on
your HD. This is the folder that you will create your CD from. Never delete
the _vti folder in the you main web, as this folder maintain the structure
of your web so that FP can manage your web.

However they serve no purpose outside of the FP environment, so when you
write the content to a CD for distributions it just take up additional
space, and also contains info related to your PC.

There are many options...

Option 1:
Open the site in FP and then File Menu | Publish Web to a folder (Open this
folder in Windows Explorer and delete ALL _vti folders) on your HD, then
copy the files to the CD. Note: Any function that requires a web server or
the FP extensions, will not function on a CD.

Option 2:
You can download and use | cdweb/cdit.exe |
<http://listserv.shu.edu/~franciru/msfrontpage/frontpage.htm>

Strictly, CD-IT is an add-in for Microsoft FrontPage 2X users which
simplifies the process of publishing a web to blank CD media (CDR or CDRW).
It is a five-step wizard with built in verification features which prevent
the occurrence of known problems. CD-IT is also intelligent enough not to
publish those folders which are used only by Microsoft FrontPage 2000 for
configuration purposes. This can save valuable data space on your CD.

Option 3:
A 3rd approach is to use one of the utilities which are available to allow
sites to be downloaded and viewed offline.
Some use WebReaper (<http://www.webreaper.net/>).
A "reaped" site ends up looking offline almost exactly as it does online,
with almost all of its FP features intact. Indexing doesn't work, but it is
almost the only commonly used FP feature that will appear to be broken.

Option 4:
Or see <http://www.microsoftfrontpage.com/content/ARTICLES/fp_to_cdrom.html>
