I have about 14 megs of old Outlook Express(?) e-mails I would like to get
into Outlook 2003. Anyone have any clues how to do this? I have tried the
simple import function, but it does not work as the files must be too old.

Thanks

Aaron

Try exporting from Outlook Express to Outlook.

The old mail has to be available in OE, on the 'same PC' as OL before you
can export, OE to OL

MBX files would be from OE4. (OE5 and above use DBX files). To deal with
these, you'll first need to get them into OE5+ .DBX file format. When going
from OE4 to OE5+, you copy everything in the "mail" folder (*.MBX, *.IDX and
folders.nch files) to a folder named "mail" on the OE5+ PC. Then in OE5+,
Select File, Import and point to the folder that contains the "mail" folder,
not the "mail" folder itself. For example, if you place the files in a
C:\OLDDATA\MAIL folder, you tell OE5+ to import C:\OLDDATA. It automatically
adds the \MAIL.

Once that's done, use OE to export email and addresses to Outlook. Note
that you must have both Outlook and Outlook Express installed and functional
for the Export feature to work.

Thanks. I will try to find an OE5 machine around here.

Unfortunately, the machine it came from is hosed and I cant get it to run so
I had to copy everything from the hard drive so I cant use the export command
which would be the easiest way to deal with the problem.

OE5+ means 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0. Copy the .MBX , .IDX, and folders.nch files
from you old hard drive and use OE (you'll probably have OE6, which will
work fine) to convert to .DBX files. From there, you can either Import with
Outlook or Export with OE; I've always found Exporting with OE works better.
