Hello
Does anyone know how I can import messages from Mozilla Thunderbird into
Windows Vista Mail? Mail is up and running okay, and I have been able to
import my contacts, but no luck with messages. Any help would be most
appreciated. Thanks.
Gordon
P.S. Vista is 64 bit, would that make any difference?

Get the ImportExport message extension for Thunderbird and install it...
http://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html

Tbird:
highlight a folder
Tools - Import/Export in mbox/eml format - Export all messages in the
folder - EML format
pick a location to save the files
OK
the files will be saved in a subfolder
(do this for all the folders)

Windows Mail/Windows Live Mail:
File - Import - Messages - Windows Mail 7/Windows Live Mail
select the folder location you saved the files to
next
All folders
next
Finish

Hi Dave

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I`ve followed the steps outlined and everything seems to work fine up until
I hit
select the folder location you saved the files to
next
I get the following error message:
No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running
that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try
closing applications that may have files open.
When in Mail Import ..., the directory says There are no files of this type.
What is odd is that if I look at the folder in My Computer, I can see the
files, they are Windows Mail (type) and if I click on one it opens up in
Windows Mail!
I am sure I saved them in EML format, I tried this several times.
Any thoughts?

It's been awhile since I've done this, so I don't remember exactly what I
did...
When you go to the folder where the .eml files are, select the folder, but
don't open it.

Or, you should be able to just drag & drop the .eml files into Windows Mail.

That did it! Thank you.

I am using Eudora 8.0b6, the latest version of Eudora/Thunderbird.
This works for ony lower version of Eudora. Is there an updated version for
latest Eudora 8.0b6?

Thanks in advance for any tips,

Ragu
