import mail from XP (old computer) to vista mail (new computer)

Is this possible? I have tried 'windows easy transfer', but allthough it
indicated this could be done, I could not find a way. Ideally I would like to
be able to use one computer as an 'email receiver' and be able to import
newer emails into the second computer when desired. I would settle for the
ability to import just once!
Anybody know how to do this?

Yeah, it's called Export from the old to a CD or DVD and Import to the New
using the CD or DVD. It's File/Import and Export on both client email
solutions.

Thank you for your reply, but I am not getting those options for
import/export. On the XP (outlook) box, I can export to a file, but on the
vista box (windows mail) when trying to import from outlook, it does not
offer import from a file, it just gives 'an error has occured' message,
'Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client.'
My system was equipped with a trial microsoft office package, and I thought
maybe it is trying to import directly from outlook on this machine. Since I
do not need office on this machine I uninstalled it, hoping that I would then
be able to import from a file. No joy.

Outlook Express, which Windows Mail is the brother to it, are the same email
client applications with more bells and whittles on WM, as far as I am
concerned.'

Don't hold me to it, but I think when you uninstalled MS Office off of the
machine, that broke WM's Import for Outlook messages, which is being
explained in the link below about *OE's 'Messages cannot be imported from
the MAPI client'.

You can always download the MS Office 2007 trail version and install it to
get Outlook back on the machine to see if that will solve the problem.

I could be wrong, because I have never exported and imported message. I have
done it with Favorites, but I don't see why you couldn't point to the file
location to import.
