Import / link table to large .csv file

I tried importing a .csv file (I don't know how many rows there should be,
file size is 319,000 KB) and got the error that "either size of query result
is larger than size of database or there is not enough temp storage space on
disk". So, I tried making a linked table and got no error message, but the
number of records in the linked table is equal to the number of records in
the imported table. Does that mean it worked correctly on both OR does that
mean the linked table also didn't get it all but just didn't give me an error
message? I don't know how to confirm if I have all the data and any help
would be appreciated. I'm a basic Access user and don't know how to write
any code at all.

I hope your computer clock is wrong, please set it. Open the file in
something like word or excel and see how many rows there is. If number of
records in linked table is same as imported it should be right but...why not
look at the first record and last and compare to the source document. Maybe
I'm missing something but I think you answered your own question.

I tried opening the .csv in Excel but it's too large and stops at 65,000
rows. Do you know of any way to get Excel to open the whole thing? I know
there are at least 2 million records in the file as the import has a bit over
that. I can't figure out how to see the last record to check but that's a
good idea if there's a way.

Not sure why you think my clock is wrong. It shows 8/25/08 9:12AM PST as
the date on my post and I wrote it today...

Excel 2003 is limited to 65k so your right that is a problem. No way to get
excel to do what it isn't designed to do. Now the question is options. By
the way, time now shows Monday, August 25, 2008 12:14 PM, Was early this
morning first time, must be my computer/outlook express. Do you have
anything to open and look at the file?

Excel is the only thing I tried. What else can open a .csv file? This is
the first time I've dealt with one.

CSV file is nothing more then a text file with the fields deliminated by
commas although that is for purists. Delimiter today could be all kinds of
things but still point is the fields are delimited with something. Such as
FIRST, LAST, MIDDLE, ...
I would seach for free text file editors there are many good ones that can
handle this size file...problem is I never deal with this size so won't be
able to answer your question with a quick answer but google is your friend.
