I am running XP Pro and want to export my address book to
my new laptop. When I go to <FILE> on my address book,
the import and export prompts are both faint--they're not
active--so I can't turn them on. How do I activate them?
In the meantime, I copied my addressbook to a CD,
loaded that into my laptop, and now have a text version
in my new portable. Unless someone can help me, it
appears as if I'll have to cut/paste or retype all of the
data into my laptop's address book. There's got to be a
better way!
Anybody out there?

Is the Address Book set to share Outlook's Contacts?
Click Tools | Options in the Address Book.
If it sharing with Outlook, you'll have to export from Outlook as a Text
(CSV) file.
