I am finding it very difficult to work with data from ACC 97 and merge it
into ACC 2K. We have several databases built on ACC 97 that need to be used
in the new version BUT we cannot perform new queries on the data, yet alone
merger the data properly. Is there any way, trick, or shortcut, to be able to
merge or map the data into a ACC 2K dB and then be able to work with that
data accordingly. Any help would be most appreciated!

hi,
it is to my understanding that microsoft change the database sturcture for
Access2k and 2k and 97 are not compatible. I think that may be your problem.
you may need to covert the 97 dbs to 2k. I would make a copy of the 97 dbs
for backup before i convert because the conversion is not reversable.

If you have split the databases, so there's a back end MDB file
containing just the tables and a front end MDB file containing the
queries, forms, etc., it's just a matter of converting the front end
files to Access 2000 format, after which they will work happily with the
Access 97-format back ends (and any remaining Access 97 front ends will
keep working too).

If they aren't split, you'll have to convert them to Access 2000 format
before you can make any design changes - though it's always possible to
create a new Access 2000 database and import or link the data from the
existing file. If you're having trouble with this process, please post
back with some more information about what's not working as expected.
