Good Day All

I have a question, I know this may not be easy if at all possible, but is there a way to import Excel preadsheet data into the Outlook Personal Address Book. (Mailbox.pab) We would like to address an extremely long list of names and email addresses we gathered in Excel Spreadsheet format and have decided it would be better used in our address book as a distribution list

If anyone is familiar with this and have it work please if you don't mind share that information so we don't spend countless hours having to retype this information

Your help and assistance is greatly appreciated ..

Stan

Why? The Personal Address Book has been obsolete -- supported mainly for
legacy situations -- since Outlook 2000. Import into a contacts folder
instead.

The Contacts folder *is* the address book in current versions of Outlook.
There are no easy ways to import into the .pab. Time to wean them.

Sue ...

Thanks for the response ... I'm sure you have in the certain past met
people who are reluctant to turn loose things thgey are used too. Its the
same way where I work. People have gotten so used to using things one way
and some times reject newer more update methods of doing things.
I'm just trying to keep everyone at work happy. I was asked to add the
information to the address book. I agree the contact is much better and I
was hoping to keep from having to retype hundreds of names and email
addresses into the .pab file it would save hours of work that can better be
used on more important projects.

If you can convince them to use Personal Distribution Lists (PDLs) in
Outlook Contacts, you can then easily import e-mail addresses from Excel
into the PDL. Here's how:

To import a list of e-mail addresses from Word, Excel, or even Notepad into
an Outlook PDL, follow these steps:

1. Create a list of e-mail addresses in Word, Excel, or Notepad. If you want
names to accompany the e-mail addresses, simply enter the person's name
before their e-mail address (or in the column before if you're using Excel).
Make sure there is only one entry per line.

2.Copy your list.

3. In your distribution list, click the Select Members button.

4. Paste your list into the pane labeled "Add to distribution list." Your
copied addresses will now appear in the list.

5. Click OK, and then click the "Save and Close" button. You can now send
mail to the entire list by typing the name of your list in the To field of a
new message, or by clicking the To button and finding the list in your
Contacts folder.
