Import doesn't work on terminal server

Situation: W2k Svr SP4 with T(erminal)S(ervices), Citrix, Office XP Pro.
Prob: When importing an excel file, and you reach the "field options"
screen, you only can change the properties of the first column. When you
select another column, nothing happens. So only the first column can be
altered.
When you try this on another pc, without TS, it works fine.

Is this something done by the office installer? (ignoring components that
are not compatible with TS)?
Or is this something that sounds familiar and that is a well known issue?

Any bright ideas?

The other PC either doesn't have Microsoft Office XP SP-3 installed yet, or
the relevant hot fix has already been installed on it.

No. Microsoft Office XP SP-3 broke it. Please see the Knowledge Base

I'm having the same issue but not on a TS. I've got WinXP Pro v2002 SP1 and
Office XP with all the lastest updates available (including Access SP3).
Another difference is I'm getting the same problem importing a text file
(tab-delimited). This doesn't occur on other similar machines in my office.

My biggest problem is Microsoft wants to charge me $99 for a email request
for the hotfix you mentioned. What the hell is going on here?! Why hasn't MS
posted this fix on their website?

I've never heard of Microsoft charging for a hot fix. Did you go to
Microsoft's Tech Support Web page and see this price? Or did you contact
Microsoft Product Support Services and talk to a human who told you this was
the price? I would recommend calling Microsoft Product Support Services if
you haven't already. (Be prepared to wait a very long time on the phone,
though, and have your Product ID handy for verification.)

Alternatives that may be available are Windows XP's ability to restore to an
earlier restore point (this depends upon whether you've kept this feature
turned on and have enough disk space available to save past restore points),
restoring from a full back up of your computer taken before the MS Office XP
SP-3 was installed, or using third-party software with MS Access XP to
overcome the deficiencies your computer now has.

Hot fixes don't necessarily need to fix the problem on every platform, or
even work yet for all platforms. A "fix-it" download available to everyone
may cause more problems than it solves, so Microsoft controls which
platforms and configurations can get the hot fixes. Once the hot fixes have
been satisfactorily tested, they'll usually be incorporated in the next
service pack.

I'm running access 2003, I get the same thing.... If I go
into the advanced, to specify a specsheet or whatever it's
called...you can do all fields.

The other solution is to install Microsoft Office 2003 SP-1. You'll be able
to assign field names and field types on multiple columns from the imported
file -- just like with earlier versions of Access -- without having to use
the "Advanced" button.

the hotfix is only available in english, and of course all our servers are
dutch (for the convenience of our users.....

maybe they'll fix it in some service pack?

There's no guarantee, but I think this is a possibility. Access 2003 had
the same problem and MS Office 2003 SP-1 fixed it. Microsoft issues service
packs for the current and the most previous version of its Office products.
MS Office XP isn't that long in the tooth, although it has already had three
service packs issued (lotsa bugs and security issues). MS Office XP SP-4
remains a possibility until Microsoft says otherwise or Microsoft announces
that the next version of MS Office is due to be RTM'd soon. (My guess is
"soon" is less than a year, because resources are focused on the newest
version to be released by that time, not the version that's going to be four
years old).
