import cropped pictures

Hi -- I am trying to make a slideshow for my sister's wedding. I scanned a
bunch of pictures in and used 3rd party software (Picasa) to crop the
pictures. The cropped pictures show in Picasa and "My Pictures" as I would
like them. When I import the pictures to Windows Movie Maker it reverts back
to the original scanned picture instead of the cropped photos.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Just a couple of thoughts.

If you navigate to your My Pictures folder and
view the cropped images with Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer...do they display correctly?

Is it possible that you are importing the originals
into Movie Maker and not the crops?

Yes -- the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer displays the cropped pictures (as
well as my Picasa program). It definintely looks like I am importing the
original scanned pictures instead of the cropped pictures, however I am
highlighting and selecting the cropped pictures (which seem to have
"replaced" the originals) so I don't know how to select the cropped pictures
instead. It looks like I am already doing so. Does that make sense? Please
help!
 
In Picasa you need to "export" the cropped picture. Before you do the
export, the cropping information in Picasa is just stored as some extra EXIF
data field keeping the original image as such. Windows Picture and Fax
viewer is smart enough to detect the extra info, and carries out the
instructions therein to show the cropped image. On the other hand Movie
Maker just imports the basic (original) image ignoring the extra info.
