I have imported my contacts with .CSV file formatting but I get a box shape
at the end of the email address that has to be manually deleted in each
address. Does anyone know why this is happening and a fix for it?

Kelsey,
Just a matter of clarity..when you use the acronym.abbreviation 'MS' which Microsoft email product does it imply?
a. Windows Mail
b. Windows Live Hotmail
c. Windows Live Mail Desktop beta
d. MSn Premium
e. MSn Explorer

None of the above are commonly abbreviated as 'MS'

Have you ever noticed? People who have difficulty with software
are often careless with nomenclature, i.e., they call things by the
wrong name, and then get frustrated when others don't understand
what they are talking about.

They also haven't grasped the fact that computers are fast idiots.

Thanks very much for the clarification. I don't have a clue as to how and why I came up with "MS Mail". The program that I am referring to is the new Vista Windows Mail!

In my case Gary it's probably just a matter of brain damage. I've always
hated precise nomenclature but have to start paying more attention to it!

Don't mind me. I was just making a flippant remark
about life in general, and I didn't mean to single you out.

I trust that someone who knows more about importing contacts
will answer your question. It is not one of my specialties.

Load the files into Excel and strip out any odd fields. If unsure of what might be 'odd fileds' and you just wish to import contacts using a csv format into Windows Mail, create a contact in Windows mail then export it, open the WM csv file in Excel then compare the two files.

Winston, Thanks for the tip. However, I have tried that and can't seem
to strip out the trailing box. For one thing it doesn't show in the excel
worksheet but does show on the contact list once it's imported.

I tried a find and replace but the find parameter I used "[:space:]+$"
doesn't work. (this idea from openoffice.org). So if you have an idea as
to how to strip out the odd field please let me know.

Winston, Also, I did save in the .csv format and a few others and to no
avail. Kelsey
