import contacts from outlook 2002 into outlook 2003

I copied my contacts (400+) in outlook 2002 as a pst file from one computer
to a CD and tried to import them to another computer using outlook 2003.
When I do so, I get the message "File access is denied. You do not have
permission required to access the file ...". I have checked the MS website
and can't seem to find an answer although I have seen info about not being
able to import outlook 2002 data into outlook 2003. PLEASE HELP!

First, never import from a PST. There's no need and you lose data.

Copy the PST to some folder on your hard drive, taking care not to overwrite
any existing PST. Right-click the PST you copied and choose Properties.
Uncheck the "Read-only" box and click OK. Now start Outlook. Click
File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to the PST, select it, and click OK.
You'll now have access to everything it contains. You can copy entire
folders, if they're not the default folders (i.e., Contacts, Inbox, Tasks,
etc.). If they are, you can open them, use CTRL-A to select the contents
and then copy them to the proper folder in your main PST.
 
Thank you Brian. This allowed me to put the contacts on my computer.
However, I cannot combine the two folders so that I have one comprehensive
list of contacts. I tried to copy and move the 2002 contacts into my 2003
contacts, but it won't let me. I just end up with two sets of contact
folders. Any more ideas?

Read what I said again. If the folder name is one of the default folder
names, you CAN'T copy the folder itself. You must open the source folder,
select all the items with CTRL-A, then copy those items to the Contacts
folder in your main folder set.
