Import contacts from Excel

I am using Outlook 2003 and trying to import multiple fields from Excel 2007.
I can get both sets of data to import but not in the same record.
Specifically I get two sets of data imported instead of the name field and
the email address field imported into one record.

How are the "fields" laid out in Excel? If they are on separate Rows
then Outlook is going to treat them as separate records.
