Import Collections

I have several .avi files I want to import into a single collection. Is there a way to import into the collection (without Movie Maker creating new collection folders). If I were working with one or two files, this would be no big deal, but I am working with dozens. Manually moving each one from the automatically created collection folders into the one collection folder I want for that group is very tedious.
 
make a collection for the project and move the new collection folders into
it as sub-collections.

or string together the avi files with a utility - into one file - before
importing
