Import and export wizards not doing anything

Hi, I hope someone can halp with this problem. When I try to import contact
details I select File / Imprt and Export and the wizard opens fine. I select
an option (e.g. "Import from another program or file") and click "Next". The
next dialog appears, I select any file type and click "Next" again, but
nothing happens. The wizard doesn't hang (it responds correctly to the Back
and Cancel buttons) but it just won't go on to the next step.

I'm using OL2003 with SP1. I'm set up to use cached mode. Currently not in
the office so not connected to my LAN, but connected to the Exchange server
via HTTP. I have also tried going offline, but its the same.

Any suggestions?

You forgot to mention where and in what format these "Contact details" you
are trying to import exist. Why would you just randomly select "any file
type?"

OK

I was aiming to get my contact data down to bare bones to transfer it onto
my cellphone SIM card... it's a long story. I have tried exporting in various
file types, but get the same problem. I managed to get the data out through
the Access Outlook/Exchange link and from there into an Excel spreadsheet
where I edited it. However I can't re-import it as an excel file, or a CSV
file, or from Access.

The point is, it doesn't matter what file type I use, the wizard won't move

Have you tried repairing your installation?

Whoa Russ. I did this, and it all went pear shaped for a while. Font handling
went haywire throughout Outlook and even in Windws itself. Outlook started
insisting I should install voice recognition.

Anyway, I did that and everything suddenly came right again. I tried the
export wizard, and it moved on from where it was sticking, asking if I wanted
to install the translator. Answered yes, and Bingo! everything is working
fine.

Thanks for the advice. I can't say I was exactly thanking you for a while
there, but all's well that ends well as the ol fella said.
