I can't get the Import and Export to open in Outlook 2003. I want to
transfer contacts information to Outlook Excpress on my laptop. I tried to
detect and repair several times and also to reinstall repair. Noting fixed
the problem. I suspect some corruption.

You really didn't tell us anything.
List the precise steps you are using and what happens when you try.
Verify that you have installed importers and exporters from the Office CD.
You need to realize that you can only import from OE when it is installed on
the same partition.

I open Outlook, click on contacts to open, click on contacts, click on file
then pulldoen list opens, click on import and exports, nothing happens pull
down list closes. I went to Help and clicked on detect and repair, but this
didn't fix the problem. How do I verify that I have installed importers and
exporters from the Office CD? I tried reinstall, so wouldn't that have
installed importers and exporters from the Office CD? Does this mean (??You
need to realize that you can only import from OE when it is installed on the
same partition.??) that I can't export Contacts to my laptop from my desk top?

In the Add and Remove Features section in the Install wizard, see if
Importers and Exporters are listed as installed.
I tried
reinstall, so wouldn't that have installed importers and exporters
from the Office CD?

Sure, if you selected them.
Does this mean (??You need to realize that you

No, but it's not the best way. Copying your PST is. See
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

As I said, just use the Office Maintenance Wizard (Control Panel >
Add/Remove) and your Office CD to see if you have Outlook's Importers and
Exporters installed.
You can't export Contacts directly to OE. You'd have to export to a file
format that OE can import, like CSV.

OK...I finally figured out your directions. I didcovered that now I can't
add any new Contacts or Calendar items. Outlook will still sync with my PDA,
but it won't sync with any new contacts or calendar items. I even tried
installing the new 7.8 active sync. This didn't help. Then: I used the
control panel to remove the outlook 2003 and reinstall using the Add and

from Outlook I get an error message that I don't have admin rights or I
exceeded 2 terabytes of space. That's not likely.

Why don't you start at the beginning with a more accurate and complete
description of the steps you used to corrupt your Outlook Profile.
Your problem goes way beyond simply installing importers and exporters and
you've provided no information that would permit any troubleshooting.

I just got back from out of town business trip. Last Thursday a Microsoft
technician helped me fix the problem ovr the phone. My Outlook 2003 MS
Exchange profile was corrupted. The short of it: I had to create a new
profile. First save my PST file. Then create a new profile, delete the
existing profile, then import my saved PST file. Now my outlook works, with
my fingers crossed.
Thanks for your advice.

The next time it doesn't, make sure that when you next ask for help that you
include the crucial information accurately. The mere mention of the fact
that you were actually using Exchange Server with a PST file would have
alerted everyone that you were headed for trouble.

That would explain the problem.
No one uses Exchange server without knowing it.
