In Outlook 2000 help says to go to file in address book to
import a new address book. I am trying to import a CSV.
When I go to address book and then file and menu import
and export are both greyed out.
Next I ran import from the regular Outlook bar and was
told that the import engine was not installed so I put in
the software and installed it and imported the CSV address
book to contacts (Over writting duplicates) and this
placed the names (the file is set up)
First Name Last Name Email address 0. in the proper field
but left out the e-mail addresses.
Does anyone know why the import in the address book was
greyed out? How I fix it? and if I ran the import from
there would I have gotten the same results?
Thanx
Dan

Yes...don't know why it was greyed out...but the e-mail address mapping
issue is fizxed by:

somewhere in the wizard that guides you through the import file process,
there is a "page" that prompts you regarding "field mapping" between oulook
and the csv file.

Expand the lists and make sure the e-mail address from the csv is mapped to
the outlook e-mail field...a "left to right" match. If I recall, "drag and
drop" is one way you can map the fields to each other.

Look in OL help under import for more info.

This should get you jump-started. Sorry for the lack of more detail....but
it's been a while since I've done this.

There's nothing to fix. The Outlook address book itself has no import
feature. I don't know why it pretends that it does.

NO...but outlook allows importing a csv file to "contacts", does it not?

I think that's what was meant?

Yes, but not through the address book. The question was specifically aobut
the address book.
