"Import" address book and e-mail files

Have new computer w/XP and new hard drive with Outlook (Office 2000). Also
have old hard drive installed(slave) which contains Windows Me-created
Outlook (Office 2000) address book and e-mail files. How do I
transfer/import/copy old address book and old e-mail files from old hard
drive to new drive's Outlook software?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Do NOT import, simply copy the .pst file from the old drive to the new
drive - do NOT overwrite your current .pst file. Rename the current .pst
file to .old. Open Outlook and navigate to the location of your saved file
when Outlook complains about a missing .pst file and open it.

Thank you! That worked beautifically!
Afraid I have a follow-on.....I found 3 .pst files on the old drive; one
labeled "archive" and 2 labeled "outlook". I copied over the larger of the 2
named "outlook" and got all my saved e-mails (and address book!) up to Jan.
5th.
I'm being greedy here.....can i get back the e-mails between 1/5/2006 and
today?
Are the missing emails in the .pst file I renamed to "OLD"? Any way to merge
these into one 'before' letting Outlook know about them?

Thanks again

Rename the .old file to .pst and change the name to something like
newoutlook.pst. Open it in Outlook - drag and drop the files from the
newoutlook.pst to the current .pst file. Then right click on the root of
that folder and select "close."

I'm trying to move mails from an old version of outlook to a new version.
Importing the .pst files doesn't work - error message that file is
incompatible with current version. can't locate the .pst files on the new
Outlook.
