Hi,

Has anyone else expierences with the AV program called VBA32 ?

This is their website:

http://www.anti-virus.by/en/

I installed the free beta version earlier this week and I want to try it
out. So far so good: fast and small sized updates;sometimes several
times a day.
The recent Zotob attacks were held off by it.

I did an online check at Housecall and nothing was found either.

regards,

JJ

I have now that you pointed it out. I evaluated the Beta version
briefly. It looks to me like this is very probably a "for real" quite
competitive product in development. I was impressed. I like their
heuristic apporach to detecting new and "unknown" Trojans and
spyware. I look forward to seeing quality test results in the future.

I used to use VBA32. It is a reliable program written in Belarus. I
experienced a few false positives with it, but the VBA32 technical
support staff were quick to respond with corrections.

Having said that, VBA32 was in my three-way contest with Kaspersky
Personal Pro 5.x and NOD32. You can't go far wrong with any of the
three, IMO.

Ultimately, I felt more secure with and, therefore, chose Kaspersky
Personal Pro 5.x to protect my computers.

Dingley

What i have seen so far is that VBA32 (just like NOD32) is very light on
the use with your RAM memory.
Kasperski however uses a lot more. That is what i experienced when i
used the 4.5 version a year or what ago...
Still I agree KAV is a very good AV program!

Am I correct with this??

Since Dingley chose KAV, he appears to agree :)

I thought the VBA console scanner is quite slow, actually. I tried the
GUI version and noticed that at first apps were slow to load. Seems
that's likely due to a feature of their realtime monitor that scans
only newly created or modified files. So app loading then speeds up
after the first time the app is loaded. It's a "smoke and mirrors"
game :) IIRC, later versions of KAV can pull a similar trick.

Good 'ol version 3.5 of KAV doesn't play such games. And with the
default "smart" scan setting (which is very effective and realistic,
BTW) I can't tell the realtime monitor is active on my machines.
