Immortal DNE registry key??

winproxy 5 firewall/LAN/antivirus/etc application
refuses to install its firewall drivers while there is
still a deterministic network enhancer icon in the local
machine software registry key. It has been, so far,
impossible to remove the DNE key using regedit. I have
permission. Delete by menu or keyboard del key or context
menu doesn't work. Doing it in safe mode doesn't work.
Exporting the software key and deleting the DNE lines and
then reimporting into registry via regedit doesn't remove
the lines, miraculously. Does anyone know a secret way to
kill registry entries that won't die? It will also not
allow itself to be renamed. If I could bottle and sell it
I'd make millions, but there's apparently no way to get
the sucker off this laptop. I don't feel like rebuilding
the hard drive after killing it that way.

Does it give you an error message of any kind when you try to delete it?

Have you seen:
http://www.deterministicnetworks.com/support/dnefaq.asp
You might try uninstalling whatever put DNE on there in the first place,
installing Winproxy and then reinstalling the original item. Alternately,
Winproxy may have an update that will let it be happy with the other copy of
DNE.
