Imbedding the filename for version control

For business project management purposes, I would like to have the filename
appear on the printed version of a presentation as can be done in Quark,
InDesign, and other desktop programs, but not appear in the slide show .
Therefore, putting the filename in the header/footer is not an option. It
would be ideal if the file name also imbedded and updated automatically.

To tag along on John's suggestion, use Notes Pages to print from instead of
printing slides. You can modify the layout (View, Master, Notes Master) if
need be, and add any text or graphics you like w/o anything showing up on the
actual slides.
