IMAP changed to deleting email

I have outlook 2007 and have an IMAP account at godaddy. When I deleted
email it used to save them to the trash but now its permanently deleting
them. I noticed it started happening last week. I've checked the purge
config parameters I could find and none are checked. How do I get outlook to
move whatever I delete to the trash rather than permanently delete? I use
IMAP since I have an iphone. When I delete on the iphone, the email does
goes to the trash and my outlook email is properly updated. Just not the
other way around.

IMAP accounts have NEVER moved deleted items to trash - IMAP accounts don't
have a trash.

let me explain what I'd like it to do...

On my iphone, when I hit delete, it automatically saves it to the "Trash"
folder. I can still get to it later from either my iphone or from outlook on
my pc.

In outlook, when I hit delete it permanently purges the message. How do I
emulate the same behavior in outlook as my iphone?

thanks

Outlook is not permanently deleting messages - it marks them for deletion
and you need to purge the folder. If you don't see them in the folder, make
sure you are using a view that shows the purged messages in place - two
popular views hide messages marked for purging or sort marked items to the
end of the folder.
