Imap Calendar

I have Imap setup to grab a calendar from my office exchagne server Questions.

1. How do i add a item in the IMAP calendar?
2. What is subscribing used for in IMAP and is it necessary?
 
I'm not sure if calendaring works via IMAP. I think that only works for mail
folders

IMAP is a mail-only protocol. While you may be able to see the Calendar
folder in the IMAP message store, it will be treated as a mail folder. IMAP
has no concept of calendaring.
