We have a customer that has purchased 10 new pc's and operating sysems and
has requested that we do an install on a machine then they will take the
machine and they are going to Partition it and install 2000 on the other
partition and then they want to hide the XP partition. And what we are
trying to find out is there a way to image all of the machines and then get
in and change the product key .They are all legal copies

What you would need to do is use SysPrep. When you run
SysPrep leave the box that asks you to Reset Grace Period
Unchecked.
If these PCs are going to be networked what you would want
to do is first run the Setup Manager that comes with the
Windows XP Deployment Tools. Answer the questions as to
how you want to configure the PCs. After you answer the
questions a .INF file gets create with the answers to your
questions. After that run Sysprep. Select MINI-SETUP
(this will pull the information from that file)

Tips: Make sure you select Regenerate Security IDs
Make sure that you create a directory in the Root of C:\
called SYSPREP (i.e. C:\SYSPREP) This gets delete when
the PC comes up after running SYSPREP.
After you run sysprep Image your PC. Don't bring it up
then image it.
Also you can only run SYSPREP a number of times on a
system. I think 7.
