I have been using Norton Ghost for sometime now to mirror
a standard image onto new workstations and have just
recently run into a problem with the Security Number. This
may be due to the fact that we've installed Active
Directory on our network. To get around this, I started
using Sysprep on the image that I wanted to mirror onto
other machines. I have now encountered a variety of
errors. These include license activation errors and being
unable to recognize an operating system. We use IBM
Netvistas and this has happend on a variety of different
machines. Is there anyone that recognizes this kind of
problem and can offer a solution?
Thanks,
Geordieboy

did you make the image file after activation

if so you can't install on different machines. win xp's activation scheme relies on a hardware hash that includes several pieces of info from the hardware on each machine including cpuid. if this varies from what it stores it will prevent further operation. if you need to image the drives do the image before activation and then you'll need to manually activate (use activate by phone method to input different product key) each machine using a different product key. possibly you could install several apps on the unactivated machine for the imaging to cut down on post image install time but possibly not, as lots of software requires activation or sp 1 which does.
