Imagine a Microsoft-Fee Life

I have no trouble at all imagining a "Microsoft-Fee Life" - it is here MS
always gets a fee for damned near everything. However, I also have no
problem with a Microsoft-Free Life - it is a reality for me. Six computers
in the house - all running Linux. I have not booted an MS system for so
long I don't remember what it's like - and I don't miss it one iota.

6 months without booting a MS System but yet you can't get MS off your
mind. Or else you wouldn't be in a
Microsoft.public.windows.vista.general newsgroup.

kind of funny in an odd sort of way.

Oh yea I know you just here doing your cival duty trying to show the
light to all us ignorant Windows user.

Let it go man! let it go!

Wow. You have six computers running Linux and they don't do anything. You
spend all your time in the VISTA group. Maybe your Linux systems are just
toys to play with. If you ever had some real work to do you would be
running a Microsoft solution.

Since all you do is post here, Ubuntu will suit you just fine.

Linux users post more in Windows groups than Linux groups.
They miss human interaction.
Mom's basement is cold,dark,and lonely.

And they miss Windows.

They love us Windows users secretly 'cause we have money.
And an OS that people actually want.

"cival duty"??? New term, I suppose.
Let it go man! let it go!

No problem - as a matter of fact, I have been able to help a couple of
folks here with their problems. You may note, if you've ever read my
posts, that I don't generally push Linux on people. Computers are
computers - certain principles apply no matter what OS. But mostly, I come
here for the entertainment value.

They do quite a bit, actually - you'd probably be amazed. And I spend very
little time in the VISTA group - it's one of about two or three dozen I
monitor on a regular basis - not all computer groups even - some dealing
with diabetes, photgraphy, airguns and other issues.

For the record, I did scientific software support and development for DOD
for 30 years - without MS. Initially on IBM mainframes, Univac mainframes
and PDP. Later VAX/VMS and DecStation (DEC Ultrix) - then DEC Alpha (Tru
64Unix before MS even had a clue there were 64 bits) and finally DELL
multi-processors running RedHat Linux. Excellent platforms for scientific
software development and processing. We routinely did digital signal
processing of coherant radar signals for Target Motion Resolution though I
also dabbled in some realtime virtual battlefield visualization.

Since all you do is post here, Ubuntu will suit you just fine.

You wish! I remain quite active, thank you - as already noted I spend very
little of my time here - perhaps you are amazed because Linux is so much
more productive than vista that I don't HAVE to spend much time here.

I get all I need thank you - I actually have contact with sensient human
beings - a contact you evidently lack.
Mom's basement is cold,dark,and lonely.

Actually, mom is dead - she died two years ago, and the house she lived in
never had a basement.
And they miss Windows.

Just like I miss the plague.

people actually want.

I expect I could 'buy' you if I so desired. More folks would probably
'want' Linux if they actually knew about it.

You could trade me for salt.
