Supposedly similar to IrfanView

From the FAQ

Is ImageWalker free?

ImageWalker has an unlimited trial period with no obligations. If you
continue to use ImageWalker you should register it. One Registration costs
US $20.00 per copy.

When you register you will not receive a CD or manual only electronic
registration instructions. You are simply paying for your usage of
ImageWalker.

If everyone registers I might be able to work full time on ImageWalker and
make it the definitive Image Management Utility!

Did you hear the one about the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac?
He would stay up late every night and wonder if there was a dog.

But a bold action by the author: Trusting in peoples good morale and
concience only.
BTW and OT: Isn't this what shareware originally was (no restrictions) ?

It matters not what it was, but what it is, and what it is is not
freeware... which is what this NG is for. If you want shareware, then go to
the shareware NG.

Yup - that was the original idea. "Shareware" nowadays are commercial
programs distributed by means of nagware and crippleware and spyware.

Freeware however means software distributed without the intent of the
author to be paid in monetary terms.

The purists ignore magazineware because the mag and the CD cost money,
whereas I allow for a company to give away an older version of its
otherwise commercial software for marketing purposes. The purists
also don't like "donationware" and "charityware" and the like.

I could care less - if I don't have to pay money for it (by the
author's consent), it's freeware to me.

But shareware where the author wants $20, even if he doesn't restrict
the software or impose a trial period, is still shareware, not
freeware.

I've used such shareware (in fact, in a couple of cases, I still do -
for example, TextPad which has a little nagware built in, but nothing
I can't live with) - but I prefer to replace them with equivalent
freeware when I get around to it. I treat such programs as "original
concept shareware" - i.e., you gave it to me, I'll pay you if I feel
like it and you accept that you'll only get paid by 5-15% of the
users. Nothing immoral about that, it's freely chosen on both sides.

But if the guy demands $20, it's not freeware.

You hit the nail on the head.

Man are you guys anal...I would classify this at worst as donationware as
the author doesn't say MUST REGISTER only SHOULD REGISTER (unlimited trial
period with NO OBLIGATIONS).
