Images with same background appear different when printed

I have a background image in a powerpoint 2000 slide. I have images set
against the same background on the slide. When viewing the slide on the
computer, you can't tell where the image ends. (Just like a tiled backround
on a Web page.) But when the slide is printed, the images appear lighter.
It's as if powerpoint is trying to indicate they are different images. Any
ideas how to fix this?

PS The images are all GIF images and are set to the same DPI and color
mapping.

Try using another image as a seamless tile and see if the error persists. It
could be that the image is not really seamless - computer monitors are more
forgiving than printers.

Some printer drivers color-manage bitmaps differently from non-bitmap color.
Try creating a tiny bitmap filled with the color you want and set it as your
background fill.

I'd make the bitmap 24-bit color to start with, but if that doesn't help, try
it as a GIF, just like your other images (the printer driver may also manage
8-bit and 24-bit color differently)
