Images not displayed in Word Document

I am attempting to insert images in a Word document. I have tried cut &
paste, as well as inserting from scanner. The image is there, it just isn't
displayed. If I select image, I can see outline, but I can't see image. I am
making a document to email. I emailed it to a different account of mine, and
image still did not display. It will print, but if receiver doesn't know it's
there, they won't know to print. I have tried all suggestions in Word help
file. I am running XP, and Word 200.
Thanks

There is Word 2000, 2002, and 2003... what is Word 200? What graphic
format (.jpg, .tif, .gif, etc.) are your images in, and do you have the
appropriate graphic filter installed in Word? Look in the "C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Grphflt" folder.

If you're inserting a Postscript image, then you will have to recreate
the Postscript image with a .tif or .gif preview, which is what Word
displays, although the Postscript is what the printer prints.

If you're inserting a non-Postscript image, then in Word click on Tools
| Options | View tab | check the "Drawings" box and uncheck the "Picture
placeholders" box. If that doesn't help, then try reducing the hardware
acceleration setting in Start | Control Panel | Display | Advanced |
Troubleshooting.

Sorry, typo, it is Word 2002. I have tried both .jpg & .gif. I don't know
what the appropriate filter is, but there are 23 files in that folder. What
is a postscript image? The Picture Placeholder box is unchecked. This was a
suggestion made in the help file. I tried all suggestions listed there.
I don't know how much to reduce the hardware acceleration. It seems this
will affect more than just the images in Word...
Thanks
