Need help. Jerkiness driving me crazy. While editing in 2003, all images
shift about 1/4 inch every 10 to 30 seconds. It only happens while editing.
I think it may have something to do with quicken since it started after
loading up quicken. Doesn't happen in word or other apps. Any ideas? I"
running XP media edition and Office 2003.

Hi CinciGuy

Do the images shift when you are editing the images? If so is this being
caused by the pipcture toolbar opening? I only ask because this happened to
me recently after installing an add-in that added it's own toolbar on a new
line - to fix it I docked the picture toolbar in an existing line of
toolbars.

Or do you mean something else? Do the images permamnently change their
position on the slide?

(Nice call -- I wouldn't have thought of that. I was kind of thinking it
was a mouse sensitivity issue.)

Only if it solves the OP's problem.... ;-)

Lucy,

Thanks for the help. The images jump about every 30 to 90 seconds and they
all shift, not just the ones I'm editing. They don't change position
permanently, the entire page just jumps and then resets.

I don't have the picture toolbar open when it happens.

As for toolbars, the only toolbar that is different is that my start and
quick launch toolbar on the bottom is double wide now and I can't reset to
only one thickness. Not sure how this happened.

This shouldn't have anything to do with powerpoint.

That one I *can* help you with: right click the taskbar (the bar at the
bottom of your screen) and make sure 'lock the taskbar' is not ticked then
you should be able to resize it. That should work for XP or Vista.

As for the PowerPoint issue, it does sound to me like a toolbar is opening
and that is shifting the position of everything else in the window. Can you
take a screen shot when everything is normal and them another when
everything shifts? Compare the two or feel free to send to me - lucy AT

Another thought is you're experiencing a "flash" -- but usually this happens
over and over in quick succession.

Anyway, it would be worth turning hardware acceleration down and see if that
resolves it.

How to set graphics hardware acceleration back

Thanks Lucy,

I can't really show it using screen shots since the shift happens in a split
second. It's more like a giggle and refresh. I slowed down the accelerator
to see if that will help.

I will let you know. I'll send a copy of the launch tool bar. I can't get
it to reduce to one icon width.

Thanks,

Guy

Right. Definitely not a toolbar thing then. Do you have a second monitor
attached? Do you sometimes have a second monitor attached? I ask because I
do and occasionally get a flash, sort of like the display is resetting...
