images don't open

Since my son's computer crashed while he was browsing with
IEP 6, images no longer open- there are blank boxes with a
x; if you click on the x, the image opens. Multimedia
options are still checked to open images.
Any advice would be appreciated

Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer
