Images disappear when ftp'd

It's the strangest thing, and frankly I'm stumped.

My personal site has several display advertisements with linked images.
Nothing fancy, just static *.gif, *.jpg, and *.png; two animated *.gifs, and
one or two affiliate links.

Everything was fine until a couple of days ago when I removed one of the
affiliate links and replaced it with an image/display advert linked to a
client. Looked great locally, but after I ftp'd the new index page and the
new image to the webhost server the page, *four* of my adverts/images --
including the new one -- disappeared. They weren't visible on the page so I
checked the View Source in both FireFox and MSIE -- and the image references
were not there. The link text is there but can't be used because there are
no images to click.

So I re-checked in FP, both WYSIWIG and html, and the images are visible in
the first and the html image reference is there. I tried rebuilding the page
and re-ftping, and it still doesn't work.

I'm ready to tear out my hair or toss the 'puter out the window or both.

Website is www.teaguide.net -- it's fairly low-tech (like me), and as I said
it worked just fine until a couple of days ago when I replaced the affiliate
link with a display advert (I removed the affiliate link by deleting the
table cell it was in, then placed the image for the display advert into a
different table cell).

I'm using FP2000 running on WIN2000. I do not like the FP publish feature,
which does not afford the control I prefer, and have been ftp'ing files since
the site went online in 1997. Webhost is GoDaddy; I've already called them
and their charming tech "support" has made it plain that they think I'm an
idiot (yes, I will be shopping for a new webhost sometime soon).

Desperately seeking help ... many thanks to anyone who can tell me what I'm
doing wrong and how to fix it. (We don't plan to buy a new PC until next
year, so upgrading is not possible right now. Besides, it's all been working
just fine until this week.)
