Running XP, IE7 and connected to internet via AOL, when I attend some
websites, I cannot view some images as a box with a red cross appears. I can
click on them ok to view but why don't they display the image on say the home
page? All my IE settings appear to be ok. When I view the same webpage on the
AOL browser I can view the image ok, so what do I need to do to get IE7 to
view it properly and why is it some images view ok and not others, even on
the same page?

My guess is that IE7 is blocking images with URL pointing to a different
domain.
This is something you can (but probably should not) allow in Tools..
Internet Options.. Security.

The AOL browser has either a security hole in design or default settings.
