In win2k when i looked at a folder with windows explorer
that contained images (jpg etc) a preview of the image
appeared in the explorer files frame. In xp pro this
doesn't happen. Is there a option I need to set to allow
this happen.

Hi Leigh,

Are you referring to the main frame where the file is or on the left hand
"Task Pane"?

To see it on the right side, just turn on Thumbnail view. View -
Thumbnails.
If it is the other, then just expand the Details section on the bottom of
the task pane and you should see the picture.

Hope this helps.

what i meant was in win2k on the right side, I could use
the details view (not thumbnail) option but still have a
preview of the selected file in the same pane.

Win XP Home works the same way...seems like
Pro would be the same.

Maybe it would help if you right click the folder and
choose...Properties / Customize tab...open the
drop window and choose "Photo Album" / Apply / OK.

When a file is selected...you should see a preview
at the bottom of your Picture Tasks pane on the left
of your screen.

If you do not see the preview...running the following
command may restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.
