Is there a way to copy (or image) all installed software to a DVD so that it
can be re-installed (without the original software CDs) if necessary?

if you are talking about re-imaging just one or two programs (selective) then
no.. it can't be done.

Most windows programs are not standalone and therefore are scattered into
directories everywhere on your hard drive. They could be anyplace. You would
never be sure to get all the appropriate files.

However, all the true standalone programs could be imaged. Just copy those
directories over to the DVD.

Your only real solution is to use one of the many, good freeware imaging
programs from the [PL] and image your entire hard drive to DVD.

Just wait a few secs... some helpful person will be along shortly & post the
name of the one they last used with good results :o) You are in THE correct
spot for help & advice ;o)

Partition saving, a DOS program. But I don't know if it can read from DVD.
