Image formats stuck on .bmp only - and I don't like it!

I am very, very angry about this! This has been going on for two months now.
And there hasn't been so much as a spark of genuine interest in fixing this
problem. It is obviously an update patch, (just before SP2) that has
corrupted the file associations in IE. Since .bmp's burn up a lot of disk
space, and millions of people work with photos and graphics, I would THINK
that Microsoft would have a research team working on this problem, at this
very moment. But since it's been two months (on my machine), and I read more
and more posts from other people with the same problem, I question whether
Microsoft is even aware of it?!

I have researched and tried each and every reference for solutions, posted
here, and related MS articles. And I am tired of going around in circles.

PHOOEY!

Microsoft! You Broke it! Please Fix it! I've applied all of the
recommended remedies without any change and it appears that it is an IE
problem.

If the program doesn't work the way I need or expect it to work. I am not
going to use it.

Hear that Mr. Gates?!

I used to like IE. But it serves no purpose for me now. I've been using
your competitors' products, and don't have that problem in other browsers.
Notify me when it's fixed. I might come back. I might not.

I am having EXACTLY the same problem and yet the fastest
way to ask a question from a Microsoft "professional"
online you have to PAY for and its THEM that have caused
the problem in the 1st place! Its just one big money
making machine and typical of an organisation who love
you and will do anything for you until just AFTER you buy
their (over-priced) products and then abandon you.

Once again Microsofts "fix" software doesnt do what it
says and just creates even MORE problems than it solves

PULL YOUR FINGER OUT MICROSOFT AND SOLVE IT! In the
meantime if anyone else has any other ideas, I'd love to
hear them

If you note the first it said

"I have researched and tried each and every reference for solutions ..."

So there is no point telling it the common causes as it has said it tried them all.
