How can i make an image file of my installed windowsXP with all the
installed software in C: drive that next time if i need to reinstall the
windows xp, i could only run the image file....

any freeware software for this purpose.

Not quite a freeware program, but have a look at:

This little program allows you to run different operating systems on
the same computer. You can have an XP for your self (one C-drive), and
another for your wife (another C-drive), and maybe a shared partition
(D-drive).
Besides that, it allows you to create and restore images of each of
these partitions to/from a (hidden) partition or a CD/DVD drive.
 
Two well-known disk imaging products are Acronis True Image and Norton
Ghost. Both are equally capable, although many people feel that True
Image is lighter on system resources (I agree), and it definitely has
better support.

Image for Windows is free of charge and well-suited for someone with a
good understanding of hard disk geometry and disk imaging.
