Hi

Is it possible to take a photo with a digital camera connected to my pc and
have it imported directly into a field in my database?

Not immediately or easily.
First your camera has to transfer the image file to a drive on the computer
and if this is a multi user application, it should be a shared drive.
The image file has to be in a format Access can use.
You have to tell your application the file is there to use.

As to how your camera gets the image to the hard drive, I don't know,
because I don't know your camera. If it has the option to save it directly
to your computer when you take the picture, that would be great.

To get it into Access without any human intervention, you could use the
timer event of a form to check a specific directory for new files, then do
whatever you want with the file when it is detected.

In addition to Dave's observations, be aware that it is only in the most
recent release of Access (2007) that you can "import" images into an
Access/JET database without that db suffering serious issues with "bloat".

Dave and Jeff,

Thanks a lot for this. It sounds more complicated than I hoped for, but I
will look into how I can make it at least a little more simple than what I am
doing now.
