Image creation and deployment

I am doing a lot of testing with XP, and want to create a set of images of
the drive at various points in time between installign software and hardware,
with the aim of eventually creating an image for deployment over lots of
machines..

Can anyone recommend a disk imaging software for this task. I have played
with the likes of Ghost, but it appears that you need to install ghost on the
machine (i.e. the drive to be imaged). Therefore, when you depoly the image
on a different PC, Ghost is on it which I don't want..

What I am looking for is something I can run from a bootable CD or something
without touching the data on the drive..

Thanks

Nick

I personally have not installed Ghost on any business machine before making
an image of it or before applying an image to it... So - perhaps you need
to research further? ;-)
