Image Compression settings (Powerpoint 2003)

We've got some lazy users (surprise) who have large PPT files (from 10's of
MB to 100's). This is mostly down to large, uncompressed images.
We've been asked to investigate whether it's possible for Powerpoint 2003 to
auto compress images on saving? I've scoured the web and found nothing.
I realise that the user can initiate this themselves for each PPT they work
on but they generally "forget" about how to do it since conserving disk space
is not their concern and performance issues with opening large PPT files is
an IT problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Steve,
Thanks for the witty reply. We're looking to move to Office 2007 next year
so this should alleviate some issues.
However our users are still waiting for MS to finish developing the
telepathic keyboard so that they can just sit and stare blankly at the screen
without lifting a finger.

David

Hi David

I have *no* commercial relationship with the following other than
being a satisfied customer.

Have a look at a product called NXPowerLite. If you do a search in
this newsgroup for it, you will find some messages I've posted about
it previously. I believe they do a server version that will
automatically compress all office documents. I've only used the
desktop one with some amazing results in terms of reducing huge
filesizes down to the more manageable. The website has a free trial
(10 compresses) version.

Peter mentionned NXPowerlite that I used
You can have a look at PPTminimizer also which can also compresses 2007
presentations.
