I'm using Win98. Can I upgrade to XP Professional?

I'm currently running Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 6.0
and was wondering if I can upgrade to Windows XP
Professional? I did see that listed under the system
requirements that XP Professional is for PC's without
Windows, or PC's with Windows 95 or earlier versions. It
doesn't say anything about Windows 98. Is there some
reason why Windows 98 isn't mentioned? Is Windows 98 not
upgradeable to Windows XP Professional for some reason?

Thanks,

John

That sounds like the wording for the full version, which you could use to
upgrade if you wanted to (as long as its not an oem full version). The
upgrade would be cheaper, however.

.

Yes, that was the wording for the full version. What
does "oem full version" refer to?

Thanks,

John

John,

I was looking to upgrade from windows 98 to windows xp as
well. I was wondering if you were successful and if you
could walk me through the process.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

Sincerely,

George

George,

I haven't done it yet. It will probably be this weekend
sometime. I will be getting help with it but I will try to
pay enough attention so that I can help you out.

oem is the version that comes with new pcs but can also be purchased
separately. In other words, it's not the boxed retail version.

Either the full retail version or the upgrade will work over windows 98.
