i'm trying to use Word as my email editor but the box is greyed?

I have outlook 2003 and i'm trying to use word as my email editor but when i
got to try and check the box, it is greyed out and i can not select it,
please help.

Please let us know which version of Microsoft Word you currently have
installed.

The reason I ask this is that for Outlook to use Word as its email
editor, the installed versions of Outlook and Word must be the same.
That is, if you have Outlook 2003 installed, you must also have Word
2003 installed.

If both versions are not the same, the option to use Word as email
editor will be greyed out.

Of course, there is the odd chance that something is wrong with either
your installation/configuration of Outlook, or your
installation/configuration of Word, or both.

Thank you for the responce. I have word 2002 and i guess that would explain
it. is there a patch or something you know of besides upgrading? this is my
companies machine.

Nope, no patches exist, as far as I know. The only way you are going
to be able to use different versions of Word and Outlook is to not use
Word as your Email editor in Outlook. There will be no interaction
between the two programs if they are different versions.

Your only other recourse is to upgrade Word or Office to the 2003
versions.
