Maybe somebody knows what I should do. The message states that the downloaded update
did not pass the "Microsoft Logo Test" and will not be installed. All I'm trying to
do is to repair my current installation (which by the way is constantly "experiencing
problems and needs to shut down") my "error reporting" is getting a
REAL workout!
I know this'll be off-base entirely for an MS supported NG, but I've had
a few fights with IE6 re-installations -- for problems other than you're
describing..
Generally, I'd recommend finding out if your problems are really IE
related by installing another browser .. oh, well heck, I recommend
just using another browser anyhow. Personally, I've found the
production Mozilla browser to be quite compatible with (most) web sites.
Occasionally, it has "drop-box" problems.. but it's usually reliable.
The firefox isn't worth using yet, in my opinion.

If you can determine that IE isn't the cause of your "shutdowns" - then
your installation might be recoverable. Otherwise, I've found it faster
to just re-install the whole darn OS than fight IE6 problems, myself..
Good Luck!
