Hey I'm back. I have two problems I would appreciate your help with. First, in browsing my devices I found that my Direct Memory Access Controller, states there is no driver. When I used the update option, it stated there was no better software available. When I tried the rollback option, it stated there were no files. Any answers? Secondly, how exactly do I access firewalls, and DL accelerators to turn them of for downloading new drivers?

Hi Eddie,

I answered in your other post that if your system is working correctly there
is no need to try to fix it. If you want to continue getting to know your PC
however, make a system restore point so you can recover from any errors. :-)

Hi Eddie,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with the kid's games.
Perhaps if you post the name of the games, the specific errors
and your system specifications we can assist you. :-)

Here's some notes about DMA:

Some games, not necessarily old old games, don't always
start when you go to play them. The game start screen or
logo screen will just hang when you try to open it and
the CDROM drive will act as if it is attempting to every
few seconds load whatever it needs from the CD before
handing over to the hard drive. To fix this, go into your
hardware device manager and click on your IDE ATA/ATAPI
Controllers and open the properties of your primary or
secondary IDE channel (whichever is tied to your CDROM or
DVD drive)and under Advanced Settings set your Transfer
Mode to "DMA if available". By default, WindowsXP when
installed will select PIO for your secondary IDE
controller and this typically causes the problems with
older games hanging when you try yo start them.

----

The screenshots in this article will demonstrate how to enable
or disable DMA for your drives in device manager, by editing
the advanced properties of the channel they are connected to:
http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/howto-05.html

If your system is using IAA (Intel Application Accelerator), then
that ability will not be available while that software is installed.
You can verify if you have it installed via Control Panel / Add -
Remove programs, and uninstall it if necessary. Hope this helps! :-)

Did as you said. The primary is set for Dma, and the secondary is set for Dma 2. Did you see my thread concerning my loading of SP1 and now I have no driver for my usb devise, could this be the problem

Hi Eddie,

The USB ports on your motherboard depend on Chipset drivers.
You can update your Chipset Drivers as per:
