It looks as though you've isolated the problem. The next step is to chec to
see if the version you installed is compatible with XP, if not check their
website for updates or later versions.
If you have the latest version, go to Control Panel, open Administrative
Tools, open Event Viewer, go to all the sections and look for errors that
correspond to when the problem occurs, double click the error, the
information within may give a clue as to the source of the error. If you
are unsure of the error, the third button down in the error box will copy
the error message, you can paste it into a message box and post it here
though it may well refer right back to the application you've just
installed.
Next step would be to check your derivers, especially for your soundcard and
graphics card to be sure they are up to date. Go to the device
manufacturer's websites and look for the latest drivers for your device and
XP.
